How image upscaling works
1. What upscaling does
When you enlarge a small image by simply stretching pixels, it looks blurry. Image upscaling uses AI or advanced algorithms to add detail and sharpen edges so the larger image looks better than a basic resize. It’s often called “super-resolution” or “enhance resolution.”
2. Typical process
You upload a low-resolution image and choose a target size or scale (e.g. 2× or 4×). The tool processes the image and outputs a higher-resolution version. Good upscalers preserve textures, text, and faces instead of making them soft or artificial.
3. When to use it
Use an image upscaler when you have a small photo that needs to be printed, displayed on a large screen, or used in a design at bigger dimensions. It won’t invent detail that wasn’t there, but it can make the best of what you have.
Use cases
- Enlarge photos for print (e.g. 4×6 or poster size).
- Improve old or low-resolution screenshots.
- Prepare images for high-DPI displays or presentations.
- Upscale product images for e-commerce.
